Q: We are having a black-tie wedding and the guys are all going to be in black tuxedos. As I was shopping for my bridal party, I fell in love with some navy bridesmaid dresses. But now I’m worried that the bridesmaid dresses won’t look good with the tuxes. Is it okay to have navy blue dresses for bridesmaids when the groomsmen are in black? Or do I need to just choose different dresses for my bridesmaids?
A: Coordinating bridal party looks is definitely a hot topic! And it makes sense: You want your bridal party colors to not only work with your venue and overall style, but also with one another. You are totally safe to pair navy dresses for bridesmaids with black tuxedos. In fact, navy can look really beautiful and elegant next to black. There’s no reason to feel like you have to put your girlfriends in black bridal party dresses just because the guys are in black. But here’s the rub: If your guys are going to be in tuxedos, then your bridesmaid dresses really do need to match the formality. In other words, they should be floor-length navy bridesmaid dresses to complement the guys’ black tuxes. The good news is that we have a TON of gorgeous floor-length formal navy bridesmaid dresses at Kleinfeld Bridal Party. Just go to our gallery of dresses and filter by length and color. If you really want your girls to look the part, look for styles with a little added beading and sequins for a look that’s truly black-tie! Xoxo The Kleinfeld Bridal Party Team
