Q: I’m shopping for bridesmaid dresses right now and want to make sure that everyone in my bridal party looks and feels amazing in their dress. The thing is, all of my bridesmaids look very different. I have one friend who’s pregnant and the others are all different shapes and sizes. Any advice on how to pick bridesmaid dresses? I just want to make sure I’m finding flattering dresses for bridesmaids that they’ll all feel confident in.
A: Great question! And we love that you’re so concerned with ensuring you find flattering bridesmaid dresses that help them all look amazing. For a pregnant bridesmaid, we’d recommend having her wear an Empire waist dress style. It’s cut just below the bustline and is one of the easiest ways to ensure that her dress will fit her no matter the size of her bump. For the rest of your bridal party, you might want to go with a bridesmaid dresses by body type approach. One idea: Go for a super figure-flattering dress silhouette and then switch up the necklines depending on what looks good on each bridesmaid. Generally speaking, A-lines are one of the most tried-and-true flattering silhouettes and are the perfect bridesmaid dresses for different body types. They cinch at the natural waist, just slightly above the belly button, and then flare out from there. And then we love the look of mixed and matched necklines. Consider choosing two or three neckline styles and then letting your bridesmaids decide which one they feel the most comfortable in. Once you’ve decided how you’re going to approach your dresses for bridesmaids, it’ll be time for the fun part: bridesmaid dress shopping!
