Ordering such important dresses online can be a bit daunting, but we are here to help you! Knowing your exact measurements is essential to get the perfect fit for your body. Here is a quick and easy guide on how properly find your measurements. When getting your measurements we recommend you wear the same undergarments that you will be wearing for your event. To get started, all you need is a fabric tape measure!
How to Measure
Let your arms sit loosely at your side and wrap the tape around the fullest part of the bust. Don't wrap too tight! You want the dress to sit comfortably on you.
Your waist measurement is taken at your natural waistline (typically the smallest part if your waist). Wrap the tape around the waist, giving yourself breathing room and then mark where the tape meets your measurement.
The hip measurement is measured across the widest part of your hips. (Don’t forget this includes your backside!) Wrap the tape around the widest part of the hip, and when the two ends meet that will be your measurement.
After you have your measurements and find a dress you like, enter your measurements into the size guide on the dress page. If you are in between sizes, always go with the size that is bigger. Your tailor can always take in, but can’t always let out!
Every designer has a different fit and a different size chart. Make sure you input your measurements into the size chart for the specific dress you are going to order. Your recommended size will be highlighted for that particular dress.
When sizing for a dress, always take the fabric and the cut of the dress into consideration. Some fabrics have more stretch than others, while some styles of dresses, such as A Lines, will give you a little more room in the hip.
